The state of the pavement in places along University Avenue has gotten to the point where it’s embarrassing since it looks like the street runs along a fault line. I made contact with the council over a year ago about getting this fixed and, I think, they did some minor patching but failed to fix one of the biggest holes.
I can hear people saying “but the councils simply don’t have the money to spend”. This could well be true but you need only look at the shiny smooth tarmac next to the pavement to know where the priorities lie.
It would make sense to me that when the road was being resurfaced then so should have the pavement and it would also allow for kerbs to be re-aligned and add dropped kerbs.
In its current state the pavement has multiple trip hazards and in places is near impassable for those in wheel chairs.
